Pilot: Blanket Fort - Fandom for outsiders
Hi again!
Welcome to the actual pilot of Fans in a Pod, the blanket fort edition! This is a much more successful attempt than last week, and a much shorter one too.
This week, we exchange short definitions of 'fandom' and dissect how they reflect our views on fandom itself, but also on the perception we expect from people who aren't fannish. We ponder the srs bsn versus the pleasure of squee, and Emef very nicely corrects Yue's horrible English pronunciation for your sake.
The theme of the day is FANDOM and our struggles to explain fandom to people who aren't fannish.

Episode: 1 (pilot, yay!)
Casters:
emef (Emef) and
yue_ix (Yue)
Length: 26 minutes
Summary: This week, we introduce ourselves and new podcast features, lack any news, talk about our ideas of how non-fannish people see fandom, a brief detour on how fandom cross overs with RL sometimes. Then we close with a question from the public along with our new Challenge Or Dare.
Tag lines of the day: "sexy voices", "we need to inject more squee into our definition" and "fanpeople I've passed time with are more creative than [anyone else] I know".
Content notes: strong accents, Yue falsely differentiating 'omnisexuality' and 'pansexuality' (my apologies!), topic jumping.
Download links: sendspace (24MB, MP3)
Creators' notes: Yue would like to apologise for being an arse who doesn't know her definitions at all. Hence, she'd like to precise that omnisexuality is commonly known as the equivalent of pansexuality and that she shouldn't have reacted to it. On that same note, she's thankful for Emef's patience with her, and for fixing her pronunciation and use of words along the way.
We also want to reinstate our love for Lunchee for having downloaded the last episode and left feedback. Thank you bb! We're always delighted to hear back from people.
And last but not least!

Thank you for listening! Plans for next week's episode will be an Halloween/All Hallows special.
